Rainbow Party

It has been years that Joanne wanted a birthday party for herself.  Whenever I had cake orders, she will ask if I will made her a similar cake for her upcoming birthday?  Unfortunately, her birthday cake will ended up with an off shelf purchase cake.

The last birthday party that Joanne had was while she was 4 years old.  After that was just a family celebration.

This year, she was begging again and again for a birthday party so that she can invite all her best friend from school.  To be rewarded with a birthday party, the rules was to score all “A” in her 4th semester exam.  In order to hep her in getting all “As”, the mom played a big role!  I bought many reference exercises; I also have to make sure that she had her dinner on time after school so that she can start her study/homework early before falling asleep at 9pm.  Joanne and myself went trough a tough time and her results had rewarded her with a Rainbow Theme Birthday Party!

AbBy Having a Mini Mouse Party

The cutest baby I ever since – Abby is turning 1 year old!

Her mommy had decided to make her a Mini Mouse birthday party.  A small and simple dessert table was setup at Small Potato Café at Tanjung Bunga, Penang.  A compliment dummy fondant decorated cake with Pink Mini’s Bow was the hi-light for the dessert table because everyone was so surprise to see another Big Mini Mouse cake brought out for cake cutting ceremony.  Fondant cookies with Mini Mouse theme was done by tweethomemade as well.  Kids, family and friends just love this dessert table.  Kids will grab sweets from this table and adults were close to the dessert table and taking snap shot.

The Birthday Girl – Little Abby was definitely thrill. We able to capture how Abby bow her head down trying to eat her first cake!  It was definitely hilarious and cute!

It’s Hello Kitty Week

Hello Kitty is always my all time favorite.

There you goes, a Kitty request of cupcakes and cake came in the same time!

The first request for Kitty Cake was kids friendly birthday cake and I decided to make it a candy cake (*Since candy Crush is a fever in Asia)
I bought a kitty mold and molded the lovely Kitty.  Then the cake was decorated with 2D fondant of candy, lollipop, ice cream, cupcakes and finish up with some yellow sprinklers!

The second Kitty cake was a much simpler one that I made it up for my friend’s belated birthday party.  Its a simple 1kg cake that given her a huge surprise and brighten up her day!

The third kitty cupcakes was another baby girl turning 1 year old!  She requested a 3D Kitty and I decided to mold in Kitty friends – Melody and a teddy bear.

full of respect and honor for others and each other.
Today, we pledge to each other to continue to be loving friends and partners in marriage.
To talk and to listen, to trust, and appreciate one another;
to respect and cherish each others uniqueness; and to
support, comfort and strengthen each other through life’s joys and sorrows.
We promise to share hopes, thoughts and dreams as we continue to build our lives together.
May our lives continue to be ever intertwined, our love keeping us together.
May our home be forever filled with peace, happiness and love.

Do you see the different of vow before 10 years and after then?

This 10th Anniversary Theme is a Tin! A website suggested to find a tin and started to put inside the sentimental values that things that can tell story of the first 10 years of marriage. For example, first honeymoon, first baby, second baby, hospitalize, new home, new car etc. filled it all up with every moment of life on the first decade of marital.  Hide the tin and revisit them in next decade of marriage.

Recap your good times, leave behind the bad times, and stay true to the love that  brought you together to begin with.

As always, be good to one another for your love is all you really have.

anniversary wedding

It was a beautiful evening at Lone Pine Hotel Garden.

My bes friend, owner of dehappygifts was celebrating her 10 year anniversary on May 4th.  She decorated her wedding with all white pom pom. I cannot remember the exact number of pom poms that she had made and believe me, it was at least 150 of them hanging on the top of the dinner table.  I have helped her with all her wedding cakes on dessert table. I have made 2 dummy cakes display on dessert table and a 3 tiers wedding cake for her cake cutting ceremony.

The dinner started at about 6.30pm with cocktail. Kids were so happy running around the garden and taking silly pictures at the photo booth.  Friends and relatives started to register and had a little of socialize before the anniversary started.  It was a great night where all the girls dress up and we hire a makeup artist for this special night.  All friend from high school, college were gather at the day for some catch up.  Time really flies, I might knowing my best friend for almost 2 decades!

In short, it was a beautiful anniversary. A great work and effort was done.  Wish you and your family be happy and good health always!

All Purpose Flour Dinner Roll

I had this dinner roll during  my last trip to Massachusetts when visiting one of our friend.

She made this dinner roll without bread flour and I find it interesting and I like to try it out and share this.

The bread turn out to be soft and not too heavy compared with bread flour.  I alter her recipe to 1 cup of wheat flour for my hubby’s health.  I also have some left over ham which I cut them in cube and roll them up for rising!

To make the bread like a flower shape, I set the dough in a rouded bunt pan.  keeping the dough 1-2cm away from each dough and lined them up side by side.  When the dough rise, it will became a nice flower ring, then you can just bake them!

This recipe is good for bread machine too!

Precious Moment

Precious Moment was one of my favorite till today.  Walking through the precious moment figurine makes me touch and it always make me staring at them for hours, like creating a story line for them in my mind.  The peaceful, love, caring, sharing, prayers are all molded in Samuel J Butcher’s artwork.

Whenever I was in precious moment art shop, I wouldn’t get a chance to purchase the figurine, because they are so expensive!  Fortunately, I do have a precious moment mug that was given by MingFen on my birthday! A very thoughtful gift… And today, I have molded them on my fondant! The endearing teardrop-eye children that called “Precious Moment”

Ruby Wedding Celebration

This was a celebration preparation for my friend -Lesley parents.

It all started with just Ruby cakes request for her parents as she was staying in Shanghai. After some discussion, Lesley and her siblings decided to make it a bigger celebration with all her parent’s relatives and friends gathering. The place was chosen to be at Feringgi Grill, Golden Sand Hotel where the Ruby couples will renew their vows on sun set.

With all the hard work from dehappygifts, the dessert table and long dining table was well setup with sound system at the garden. Unfortunately, the weather do not allow the even to start off and all the decoration has to be done under the shades. The event was started off a little technical issues, but all the participant enjoy this gathering. In fact, it was a lovely and enjoyable evening.

I remember when I was a kid, I love to watch smurf. The cute little blue creature live in a small cute mushroom town.  Each smurf has a unique personality such as Papa smurf, Baby smurf, Grouchy, Handy, Jokey and many more.  See more at Meet Us Smurf.

The smurf movie is again in the theater and I could not wait to bring my girl for the show.

I received this order from Joanne’s art teacher.  I wasn’t sure if I’m able to make her special request but as I always mentioned, I love new challenges to built my portfolio.  Now I can feel the Smurf hit the town again!
